Fete
We show both under the GCCF (Governing Council of the Cat Fancy) and Tica (The International Cat Association). The majority of our showing has been with the GCCF, and we are very new to Tica, just having attended three of their shows to date. Both are very different style of showing:
GCCF being more formal of the two. Exhibits are presented in pens with all-white bedding, litter trays and food & water bowls. The judging usually commences around 10am and exhibitors are requested to leave the show prior to the commencement of judging, returning to their cats around 1 pm. Each cat competes in his/her Open class, competing of like coloured cats i.e. Lilac points will compete against other lilac points. If the judge deems the cat to be of sufficient standard the cat may be awarded a Challenge Certificate - a CC. To become a Champion, a cat has to gain a CC from three different judges. A Champion cat then may go onto the Grand Champion Class, competing against other Champions for the Grand Challenge Certificate. Again three Certificates, from different judges, will make the cat a Grand Champion. Then there is now the Imperial class which a Grand may compete in, but needing five Imperial Certificates!!

| Tica is a relaxed way of showing. Exhibitors stay with their cats all day, and shows generally cover two days. Pens can be decorated, some quite lavishly! Judges are invited from overseas to UK Tica shows. Each judge will be allocated a 'ring' where the judging takes place. The exhibitor takes their own cat over to the ring, and judging commences from there. Each cat will be judged for best colour, best division and best of breed, again on a like-to-like basis for colouring's/markings, this time gaining points along the way. After judging all breeds the judge will then call back his/her Best ten cats - and they can be of any breed, colour! The judge then counts down from his final ten all the way to his number one cat, again gaining points along the way, the higher placed cats gaining higher points! We are proud to say that Ede became Supreme Grand Champion at the Glasgow Tica show in January of this year, where she was awarded Best Cat twice. Omar is currently a Quadruple Grand, paws crossed for the next stage in his show career!! |
