About Us ....
One very special Siamese was with me, from a child of five years old to an adult of 21……..Chang.
Chang was a birthday gift. As a twin, born on our mother's birthday, our grownup brothers' wondered what to give us for our combined birthdays. Training as an apprentice electrician, my eldest brother had been working in a house where a litter of Siamese kittens had been born. All the kittens had gone for except one! So, after discussion with my Mum, Chang was duly presented to me and my twin brother in a loosely gift-wrapped cardboard box! And that, as they say, was it!! Indeed a happy childhood.
As I missed Chang and his dear ways, Ray and I bought, in the 1980's, Tiki, a lilac point Siamese. And as you do, decided Tiki would be so lonely without his brother Ming, well, he came home with him! With the encouragement of their breeder, we entered Tiki, into the Lincolnshire Cat Club Show. He won his class and Best of Breed, and we were hooked……..!
We decided on our prefix, Flutterby, as it is both an anagram of butterfly, and also that Siamese do have the most beautiful fly away butterfly ears!!!
In 1993 we were fortunate to welcome to our household, Meilland Midas Touch, a fabulously pale cream point. Bred by Lynne Hancock, Midas went on to become a Grand Champion and the pinnacle of his showing career was that he made Best Siamese at the National Cat Club, held at Olympia, in 1994. Altough no longer with us Midas features strongly in our pedigrees
Another cat that we enjoyed showing was Ice, a very lovely sweet gentleman, known as UK Gr Pr Roysterer IcedFlutterby, who still retained his good looks into his old age.
The next few pages show our Studs and Queens……… |
